At a White House breakfast for Republican senators on Wednesday, Donald Trump discussed some of his takedowns after meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Reflecting on the behavior of the Chinese President’s staff, he said, “I want the behavior of my cabinet. [Xi Jinping’s staff]. I ask for it. I want them to sit like that, nice and straight.”
He continued, “I have never seen such an attitude. I have never seen men so frightened in their lives.”

In the process, he also let slip a little Freudian slip about the necessary power dynamics with his beloved, JD Vance.

“JD doesn’t act like that,” he said, comparing Vance to Xi’s vice president. “JD gets down to conversations,” he said.
He added, “I want to make it at least two days, okay, JD? We’ll keep you for the long haul, but a few days of that would be great.”

“He’s asking his cabinet and the vice-chancellor to be cowed into silence, you know, like a dictatorial staff. But don’t call them Nazis. That would be impolite.”

Finally, “he just said, ‘I’ve never seen people so scared’. They don’t respect Xi, they fear him, and that’s what Trump wants in the United States. Rule by fear. Avoid MAGA.”
